lunar journal

Now that I'm not in school anymore, I've been finding myself itching to have something to study and research more than ever before. I love learning, and I've always lived by the idea that you need to have something in this life to be interested in or curious about. Lately, I've been diving deep into learning about the lunar cycle and how the different phases of the moon can affect what we do and how we feel- and that by aligning ourselves with the moon cycle, we can live healthier, happier lives. It has been so interesting, and so very eye-opening. As I get deeper into this research, I would love to share everything I'm learning with all of you! <3

Paper Bag Book DIY

If you're a long time reader of my blog, you might remember the paper bag books I made years ago (here and here). I was in a crafty mood a few days ago and thought it would be fun to try making one again! I also filmed a video to show you guys how I did it.

PWM + Free Printable

For this week's planner spread, I knew I wanted to do a vintage rose theme but I didn't have any embellishments that matched my idea. So I put together a printable sheet of decorations using vintage clip art and some hand designed elements. It turned out so cute that I decided to offer it as a freebie!

visual diary II

I'm very inspired by images I see on Pinterest and Tumblr, and I often pin or reblog them only to never really look at them again. Every now and then I like to go through and print some of the images I really like and put them in a journal, hang them on my wall, or create collages. I've done a post about my visual diary before, so here is a part two with a few other ideas.

I like to gather together images that are visually cohesive. These are all things I've recently saved on my Tumblr, plus a photo of Jade and I that I threw in there too.

I am in love with this beautiful mountain photo- everytime I look at it I want to pack my bag and go on a backpacking trip. I glued it in my journal with some cut-out letters and wrote a sort of "to-do" list- or things I'm dreaming of doing in my lifetime.


I made some of the other photos into polaroids using wooden frames that I found at the craft store. (Remember the last wooden polaroids I made?)

planner decorating // a fresh start

Sometimes with no warning, life knocks you off your feet. And you're left to pick yourself up, brush off the dirt, and keep heading down your path.

I've been working on doing the things I love, to aid the process of picking myself back up. I've been sick in bed all week so that has given me an excuse to take a much needed break from work and do the things that really make me happy. Although I usually like to heal my body naturally, there comes a point where you just need a little extra help. So as my new stock of medicine the doctor gave me is helping heal my body, I am working on healing my spirit. I'm sorry I'm keeping this vague, just know I am healing.

The first step to a fresh start can be as simple as buying yourself a new planner. I found this one at Target, and was inspired by Abby's beautiful planner to start decorating my own.


I gathered together some of my favorite craft supplies and sat in bed while I started decorating my planner.


I like the idea of treating my planner like a scrapbook that I can look back on and enjoy even after it's all filled up. I taped in the wrapper of a new tea I tried this week, included a note that my sweet cousin Jade gave me, and wrote in random thoughts from my days (since they weren't too eventful spent all day in bed).


I started planning out next week, leaving some blank space so I can continue adding little pieces from my days.


This planner is the perfect way to stay creative everyday, even if I don't have much time to craft. I'm excited to continue decorating it, and see what it turns into!

visual diary // creative journaling

I'm finally home after lots of traveling these past few weeks (I've got some photos that I'll share in another post!). I've got a sort-of DIY for you today. I have always wished I was the type of person who keeps a daily, written diary, but I've never managed to keep up with one. I have dozens of empty notebooks that I bought in the hopes that they would motivate me to start writing, but they usually ended up unused in a desk drawer.

So I recently pulled out one of these empty notebooks and decided to take a different approach to journaling, which I can't believe I never thought of doing before! I started a visual diary, because I feel more creative putting images and words together than just writing in paragraphs.


I started my diary by printing out some images from Pinterest and collaging them on the first few pages. I decided this diary is going to be for both documenting my life (I'll print some of my own photos and glue them in with captions) and just for collecting images that inspire me.


My first page was full of style inspiration (most of my photos are from this board).




On the second page I put together some photos of places I want to travel (and I loved the pastel tones in all of them!).


I've only done the first two pages of my visual diary, but just doing those has inspired me to keep filling it up!

I was so excited when I picked up my mail and saw the printic envelope, the simple packaging is lovely!


I looked through all my prints and started thinking of things I could do with them. Of course, I love how they look strung up across my wall.


They're also perfect to put in a journal or scrapbook! This photo was from a few months ago when I took a road trip to Nashville with some of my friends.


I have been craving summer lately, so I ordered several prints of photos I took last summer.


To go along with the summer theme, I made a little mix tape of my favorite summertime tunes.


I packaged it with one of the polaroids as a gift for a friend!


And last, I hung a few photos of my roommates and I on our fridge.

These past few weeks have gone by in a whirlwind, and I've missed my blog dearly! I am so sorry for the absence! Throughout October, I had a big project I was working on for my art class. There are so many crafty things I've wanted to do, but that project didn't leave me much time to work on my hobbies. After a month though, it is finally finished! So now I am back to blogging; be on the look out for fun, new posts coming up!

summer travels

Beautiful, breezy beaches; clouds outside airplane windows, Santa Monica Pier; pacific coast sunsets; exploring LA; 4th of July barbecues; surfing in VA Beach; this is what's in store for me in the next few weeks. I begin my travels tomorrow, leaving behind my small, Alabama town, to go from coast to coast to coast. Florida, California, and Virginia are my destinations. 

I might try to find time to do blog posts in-between my adventures, but if I can't, I will be back mid-July. ♥

pretty matchbook notebooks

I woke up this morning and felt like crafting, but I had no idea what. Lately I've been in a creative rut, and I'm not sure why. So I decided to just get out a bunch of materials and see what I come up with, and these matchbook notebooks were created! I've made these before -if you're a long-time reader you might remember- but I like my new ones better. And I even wrapped them up all pretty, ready to give as a gift to someone!


I used some of my new stamps and world map washi tape, along with paper scraps I had on hand.


I made a little tag and picked out a few things to wrap these little notebooks with.


Simple, but pretty, in a glassine bag sealed with floral washi tape.

I think this is a lovely little gift to give to someone, so why not make some now and surprise a friend? Have a wonderful day! ♥

wax paper envelopes

I think making envelopes is my go-to craft whenever I'm feeling creative, but don't know what to make. They're so quick and easy, and there are endless ways to decorate them. Today I tried a new material to make small envelopes; wax paper (the wax paper in your kitchen that you use to wrap food). I love that it's transparent so you can kind of see it's contents.


You probably have all the supplies you'll need to make these. You can either open up an envelope you already have to use as a template, or if you want the one I used, you can find it here (Chia's Rubber Stamp Art). Trace the template onto the wax paper with a pencil, that way the marks are light and won't show in the end. I used regular glue to put the envelope together.


Then I created little collaged notes to put inside. I made them bright and pretty to show through the envelope. (ps. The colors I chose were inspired by summer -hence the first quote- anybody else ready for this cold weather to end?)


The outside of the envelopes don't really need to be decorated, except for a small sticker to seal them. Make a bunch of these and give them to your friends to brighten their day! ♥

Collect some pretty jars {recycled or from the thrift store are the best} and fill them with little things that make you happy {ribbon, charms, golden stars, sparkles, dried flower petals, love notes, paper beads, etc...} then line them up on a shelf for a lovely decoration.

inspiration wall additions

I added  few new things to my inspiration wall (remember this post?). In the picture above, the new things are the little golden kitty, the decoratd matchbox, and a French quote that says:
 "In the middle of winter, I discovered in me an invincible summer." -Albert Camus


At the top, I added two new photographs. The bottom one is from my penpal, Gwen. Isn't it pretty? And the one on top is a picture I took that I added text to. You can see a bigger version of it below.
