Hello friends! So the pocket letter trend has been around for a while, but I haven't tried making one until now! That's crazy considering how much I love making penpal letters, but I'm so glad I tried making one - it was so much fun! This one I made was Valentine's themed, and I think it turned out super cute. I'm looking forward to making more pocket letters! I made a video to show my process of making this, so check that out at the end of the post!

DIY envelopes

I love using kraft envelopes in my penpal letters because they look great on their own, but are also the perfect blank canvas for decorating! Today I'm showing you a few ideas for embellishing envelopes for your letters!

autumn penpal letter

I have slowly begun to get back into penpal letter writing, I almost forgot how much I love it! It is just such a lovely way to connect with someone, and it makes me so happy when I seal up a letter and send it off in the mail. (Remember some of my old penpal posts, like this and this?) I stopped writing letters for the past few months because I was just overwhelmed by school and other commitments in my life, but since then I have lightened my load and have been making more time to do the things I love.


I put together an autumn themed letter for a blogger friend, Abby of Tutus and Pearls. I wrote a letter and doodled some fall foliage on the edges. I gave her a packet of my favorite tea of the moment, and included a few other small things in the letter.


An envelope of little treasures, a few of my favorite songs to listen to in the autumn, and a tiny envelope of quotes that inspire me.


Everything was folded up inside the letter and wrapped with a strip of this beautiful golden yellow floral fabric. I loved making this letter for Abby, and I look forward to more letter writing!

galaxy postcards DIY

I've got another mail related post for you today! I am fascinated by galaxies (and anything having to do with space, really), and I think they are really fun to paint. I created these galaxy postcards after I was inspired by Elisa's galaxy notebook!


Elisa has great instructions for making a galaxy pattern, so check out her tutorial!


To make these postcards, I cut out a postcard sized rectangle from watercolor paper (because it's stiffer than card stock). Then I applied different shades of blue and purple with a sponge, and added some white "stars" with a small paintbrush. I modpodged the top and drew a postcard design on the back with a black pen.


On the bottom, I wrote a line from one of my favorite poems by Andrea Gibson.

odds & ends

I went to the beach with my friends for a few days last week, and ever since I got back I've been spending all my free time doing some spring cleaning! To all my penpals, I have not forgotten about you! Sorry for such a long delay in my response, but I promise I will have something in the mail for you soon. :)


I recently made these raspberry bars, which are super yummy, and they're raw/vegan! I used this recipe, and it turned out really well! I always tell you guys the changes I make to recipes, but I didn't need to change much in this one! I did use fresh raspberries instead of frozen, and I added a few less dates (because I didn't want them to be too sweet). Also, I did not add the icing on top of the bars, but they were still delicious without it!


And speaking of spring cleaning, I recently redecorated my bedroom (since I am currently living at home for the summer). So maybe a room tour will be in the near future? ♥

springtime mail

I have been loving my morning walks to class lately; everything is turning green and blooming and looks beautiful against the bright blue spring sky. This week has been lovely so far, I'm enjoying my last few days of being 18! Today was no exception, I got a pretty, pastel letter in the mail from my pen pal Sarah!


It was all so springtime-y and charming, lots of florals and light, pretty colors!


This little macron card is adorable!

une lettre de mon amie

I feel like all I've been posting about lately is mail, but I've been sending and receiving lots of letters recently and they're so pretty! Today a letter came to me all the way from France, sent by the lovely Elisa (of the blog Granie).


I love mini envelopes (okay, I love anything mini, but especially envelopes).


This one was filled with Elisa's favorite quotes, written on pretty strips of washi tape!


This little heart envelope had adorable handmade, washi tape flags!


And the last tiny envelope enclosed this tea that smells so good!

letters, adventures, and kitty stationery

Sorry for the blogging hiatus, these past few weeks have been pretty busy! I got hired to be an RA at my university next year, I've been working on an internship application, I went on a few weekend adventures with my friends, and I attempted to stay on top of all my schoolwork!


Anyway, a few weeks ago I received a letter in the mail from my Canadian penpal, Sarah, and it was so adorable that I had to share!

My sweet penpal, Sarah, sent me a letter full of adorable loveliness, so I made one to send back to her!


I wrote her a letter and decorated it with paper flowers (I've often found myself using graphing paper to write letters, I just love it's simplicity!). I included a petit four and a little pack of stickers that you saw posts for previously!


I really love this color scheme. I can't get enough of florals and pastels!


I also came up with a little list of "cures" for the winter blues. I know sometimes things get a little mundane for me in the dead of winter (and Sarah's winters are even colder then mine!), so these are just the things I do to brighten up my days.


I really love writing letters to faraway friends; it's so much fun putting together these mini packages so they have a sweet surprise waiting in their mailbox. ♥
