valentine's pocket letter

valentine's pocket letter
Hello friends! So the pocket letter trend has been around for a while, but I haven't tried making one until now! That's crazy considering how much I love making penpal letters, but I'm so glad I tried making one - it was so much fun! This one I made was Valentine's themed, and I think it turned out super cute. I'm looking forward to making more pocket letters! I made a video to show my process of making this, so check that out at the end of the post!

penpal letter guide #2

snail mail
Back in January I made a post about a new series I was starting on my blog, called the "penpal letter guide". (See that post here) Well, it's already March and I realize I haven't continued the series! So that's exactly what I'm going to do today- and I will be sharing ideas of things to send in your letters! I made a video to go along with it, so watch that at the end of this post to see all of the ideas.

snail mail
I include a playlist in almost every letter I send, because I'm constantly discovering new music that I want to share with my penpals! I wrote this playlist on a kraft tag, but you can get creative and write it on anything you want!

Create a little bag of "wishes" by filling a glassine envelope with gold stars. I think this a charming addition to any letter, and your penpal can use the stars as embellishments in their crafts!

Like most crafters in the blogging world, I have collected quite a few rolls of washi tape over the past few years. I love to share some of my collection with my penpals by wrapping some washi around a tag.

A little set of matchbook notebooks is super cute and a small enough gift to fit inside your letter. These are really easy to make- this is the tutorial I used if you want to try it!

I hope you enjoy!

valentine penpal letter

valentine letter
Here's your weekly mail inspiration- the last penpal letter I sent!

The weather has been absolutely beautiful here in Alabama so I'm headed out on a mini backpacking trip for the weekend. I'm looking forward to getting out in the woods and sitting around a campfire after a long day of hiking. Does anyone else love a good campfire as much as I do? That's one of my favorite things about camping, fire with late night conversations and good company. I'm bringing my camera so I'll share my adventures with you next week! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

penpal letter guide

penpal letter guide
As you all probably know from reading my blog, I love sending snail mail. I decided to start a penpal letter guide series, since I know so many of you love writing letters too! Today I'm going to talk about the essential supplies I keep on hand for creating letters.

envelopes
1. Envelopes
I keep a collection of different kinds of envelopes so I have lots of options to choose from when I'm creating a letter. The kraft paper envelopes are my favorite because they're like a blank canvas to decorate, paint, and draw on. I found all my envelopes at various art supply stores!

scrap paper
2. Paper
I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to paper. I save wrapping paper, cards, bags, and any scrap that I think I could repurpose. For snail mail, I use paper for things like handmade envelopes, decorating letters, and making little stickers and tags. I also like to write letters on the back of patterned paper instead of using plain lined paper.

3. Embellishments
Decorating letters is my favorite part! I have a stash of stickers, tags, ribbon, washi tape, and lots of other embellishments that I use to make my letters pretty. The best place to find these types of things is in the scrapbooking section of the craft store!

pens
4. Pens
The last essential in my collection of snail mail supplies is a variety of different pens that I can use to write, doodle, and decorate my letters!

What would you guys like to see in future penpal letter guides? Let me know!

I hope you all are having a wonderful first week of 2016!

pretty mail

penpal letter
Last week I sent Abby another letter, so here's a little mail inspiration for you! My last letter was autumn themed, but with this one I didn't do anything seasonal, I just wanted to make a pretty letter! Although now that Thanksgiving is over, I'm very excited to start sending out Christmas mail. Christmas is my favorite holiday, so I will have lots of holiday posts coming up in December! Have a lovely week

galaxy postcards DIY

galaxy postcards
I've got another mail related post for you today! I am fascinated by galaxies (and anything having to do with space, really), and I think they are really fun to paint. I created these galaxy postcards after I was inspired by Elisa's galaxy notebook!

postcards
Elisa has great instructions for making a galaxy pattern, so check out her tutorial!

galaxy painting
To make these postcards, I cut out a postcard sized rectangle from watercolor paper (because it's stiffer than card stock). Then I applied different shades of blue and purple with a sponge, and added some white "stars" with a small paintbrush. I modpodged the top and drew a postcard design on the back with a black pen.

postcard
On the bottom, I wrote a line from one of my favorite poems by Andrea Gibson.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!
