DIY mini mountain paintings

7
I found some mini canvases at the craft store recently, and I knew I wanted to make something with them. I've been very inspired by beautiful landscape photography lately, so I decided to recreate some of my favorite photos on these canvases. I put together a little tutorial so you can make your own mini paintings! Even if you don't have any painting experience, I promise you can make these too. Their small size means you don't have to worry about making them perfect!
how-to
After you find a landscape photo you'd like to paint, follow these steps. Don't worry about painting it perfectly, the less neatly you paint the better it will look! (think: Monet)
1. Paint the sky a light color (add swirls of white if you want clouds)
2. Create the basic mountain shape with different shades of grey
3. Make the foreground with different shades of green
4. Add the small details- rocks, grass, trees, and snow on the mountain top

That's it! You can apply the same idea to any photo you find and create your own set of landscape paintings!

So get your paints out, put on a good playlist, and create your own little nature paintings. Or better yet, head outside to a beautiful spot and paint what's around you. Sounds like the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

  5. Jordan! I am absolutely in LOVE!! I actually just went to the crafts store and came back with some paint and mini canvases. I'm so ready to take on some painting! I honestly am quite intimidated by painting in general since I have very little experience with painting. BUT, you are so inspiring that I have decided to attempt this DIY! ^_^
